Pembroke High School Weekly Update

Dear PHS Families,

Here is this week's update.  As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions on these or any other matters.

Report cards for Term 1 were issued yesterday (Thursday, Nov. 18).  Your child should have brought his or her home, but if you need a copy, please contact your child's guidance counselor.   Term 2 is well underway, and it isn't too soon to let you know that progress reports for Term 2 will be issued on December 20!

Our next evening of P/T conferences is on Wednesday, December 8 from 1-6 p.m.   These are the conferences that have been rescheduled from October 27, which were postponed due to the storm and subsequent power outages.  The window to schedule conferences is now open in Pick-a-Time.

Don't miss Pembroke High School's Thespian Troupe 7127 proud presentation of Mamma Mia this weekend.  Friday's and Saturday's shows begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday's performance begins at 2 p.m. Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling (781) 293-9281 x2128. Priority seating can be purchased for $20; otherwise, adult tickets are $15 and student/senior tickets are $10.

We have three athletic teams competing for State Championships this weekend!  Best of luck to our boys' and girls' cross country teams as they travel to Wrentham for the Division 2B State Championships at the Wrentham Development Center. Our boys compete at 11:30 a.m. and our girls go off at 12:15 p.m.

On Sunday, our cheerleading team heads to Worcester State University to compete in the Division 2 State Championships.  They are scheduled to perform at 4:05 p.m.

Best of luck to our student-athletes in their state competitions this weekend.

After a year without high school football on Thanksgiving, we are looking forward to renewing our rivalry with Silver Lake Regional High School on the gridiron next Thursday at SLRHS at 10 a.m.  Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 day of the game.  Get your tickets early by clicking here and using GO FAN.

We are pleased to be hosting our annual Senior Breakfast on Wednesday, November 24, another event returning to us after a one-year, COVID-related suspension.  Our seniors will complete important tasks for graduation (diploma verification, cap, and gown ordering), learn of the winners of the Senior Superlatives, pose for the Class of 2022 photo, and, of course, enjoy a delicious breakfast.

Wednesday is an ERD and the breakfast will take place from 8:45-11:10 a.m. (Ps 5, 6, 7, and 1).  We are grateful to our faculty and staff for agreeing to give up the instructional time so that we can provide this traditional senior event.  In turn, we ask all seniors to arrive at school on time on Wednesday so that they can attend the first two periods of the day (Ps 3 and 4).  Students arriving late run the risk of not being allowed to participate in the breakfast.  This does not include students using Senior Privilege.  Students with a study hall during P3 can use the privilege so long as they arrive prior to the start of P4, which is at 8:07 on an ERD.  We appreciate our families reinforcing this important expectation at home.

We have confirmed that our new picture re-take day will be Tuesday, November 30.

While this type of request is usually not a part of our weekly email blasts, an increase in students requesting to be dismissed without a note has prompted me to issue this gentle reminder.  Any student being dismissed should bring a dismissal note to our attendance clerk on the morning of the dismissal, preferably before 7:30 a.m.  Without a note, parents are required to come into the building (with an ID) to sign their child out.  For safety reasons, we cannot dismiss students over the phone.  As a general rule, bringing the note to our attendance clerk in the morning is the most efficient and effective way for a student to be dismissed.  Thank you for your cooperation!
