A Message From Our School Nurse, Mrs. Haley
The annual postural screening will be done during the month of November, starting on the 1st. The purpose of this screening is to find early signs of possible spinal problems in children in grades 5 and 6. It is not a diagnostic service but a program to identify young people who should have further medical evaluations. This screening is required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in grades 5 through 9.
If your child has any unusual findings, you will be notified. If no problems are identified you will not be contacted. If for any reason you do not wish for your son or daughter to participate in this program, a signed letter must be submitted to the school nurse.
If you would prefer to have your child wear a smock in the art room, could you please have your child put one in their backpacks? They can bring the smocks with them to art class, and store them in their backpacks. It will be the student's responsibility to remember to bring them to class. Don’t forget to wash them periodically. Large/oversized old T-shirts work the best.

Kinship Care Support Group
We are writing to let you know about the upcoming Kinship Support Group on Tuesday, November 27th at North Pembroke Elementary School from 6:30-7:30 pm.
This group was created because many children in Pembroke are being raised by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins or other close family members. These “kinship” families often have unique needs that may include physical, medical, social and emotional challenges.
This support group provides participants a chance to share their personal experiences with others who are in similar situations and are experiencing the same types of issues. The evening begins with families gathering together for pizza in the cafeteria. After eating, adults will meet in a small group for discussion and resource sharing while children participate in activities supervised by YMCA staff.
If you would like to join, you must REGISTER one-week prior by contacting Cheryl Larson at Cheryl.Larson@Pembrokek12.org.
We hope to see you there,
Cheryl Larson, LICSW

Easy Ways to Help Out
Box Top News: Keep sending in those Box Tops! Remember each Box Top is worth $0.10--they add up quickly! Last year we made over $1500 for Bryantville. Please remember to cut the box tops out on the lines (this saves on shipping costs) and, if possible, attach them to a collection sheet that can be found at www.btfe.com. Remember- we can't submit expired box tops. Thanks for your help and support!
Baystate Textiles: Our school has a donation bin in the front parking lot. It is emptied weekly, and the PTO receives monthly rebate checks based on the weight of the donations. It is an easy way to recycle clothing, shoes, and linens. Clean out your closets and help our school at the same time!
